SDAMH Rural Access Service

This Service offers a person centred approach, which is tailored to the individual’s needs. The Service aims to be appropriate to the person’s life style and age. Within areas of work it is anticipated that the person develops a greater understanding of their mental health.

The Service endeavours to assist people experiencing mental ill-health to work through issues, extend coping strategies and to live a fulfilling life in their own community.

The Service is for individuals residing in the rural areas of Stirling District who are experiencing feelings of stress, anxiety or symptoms of mental ill-health which isolate them from the community, inhibiting their ability to cope with their daily life.

What will the Rural Support Service provide -

  • Provide information on what’s on offer and /or introduction to various community activities.

  • Give support in developing social skills and support in socialising, leisure and recreational pursuits.

  • Develop decision-making skills and assist in the exercising of choice in all aspects of daily life.

  • Assistance with practical issues e.g. general welfare, cookery and budgeting skills.

  • Work in partnership with the person and their Families/Carers.

  • Basic advocacy i.e. liaise with other agencies on the person’s behalf.

  • Provide “talk and listen”

How To Be Referred
A referral system is in operation. SDAMH requires the referral form to be completed fully and signed by both the referrer and the person being referred to the Service. Referrals are taken from GPs, CPNs, Psychiatrists, Hospital Staff, Key Workers, Social Workers, other agencies. An initial joint visit with the referrer is also beneficial.

Criteria For Referral
